How backups and restores work

What we back up, how often, and how to get something back.

Your site is backed up, so if something goes wrong it can be put back the way it was.

What's backed up

  • WordPress sites: the whole site, every day: its pages, posts, images, settings and, for shops, orders and customers. The latest backups are listed under Backups on your site's page in My sites.
  • HTML and Next.js sites: your site is built from its code, which keeps every earlier version, so we can put an earlier version back within minutes.

Getting something back

Choose Ask us to restore next to a backup on your site's page, or send us a request saying what you need, like a deleted page or the whole site as it was on a particular day, and we'll restore it.

Deleted something by mistake in WordPress? Check Trash under Pages or Posts first. Things stay there for 30 days and you can restore them yourself.

Before updates

We take a backup before we apply updates to a WordPress site, so if an update causes a problem we can roll it straight back.

If your plan ends

We keep your backups for 30 days after a plan ends, in case you need anything from them.
