Pointing your domain at Spectacle

Your domain (your web address, like yourbusiness.co.uk) is bought from a domain company such as 123 Reg, GoDaddy, IONOS or Namecheap. To show the site we host, its settings need to point at us.

Two ways to do it

When you signed up you chose one of these. You can change your mind at any time: just send us a request.

• We do it for you (easiest). Invite [email protected] to your domain account, or give us its log-in through the secure form on your site's page. We'll change the settings, then let you know when it's done.
• You do it yourself. We send you step-by-step instructions with the exact settings to enter.

Your domain stays in your name either way: we only change where it points.

Before it points at us

While we set your site up, it has its own Spectacle address (ending .spectaclepowered.com), shown under Domain & email on your site's page, so you can look round it before your domain is switched over.

How long it takes

The change itself takes a few minutes, but it can take a few hours (occasionally up to 48) to reach everyone. During that time some people may see the old site and some the new one. That's normal.

If you use email on your domain, its settings must stay as they are. We check this for you, so your email keeps working throughout.

Changing your web address

Your site's address is on its page in My sites. If it changes, update it there and we'll be told.
